Flashnet IoT Platform re-certified to TALQ 2.7.1 with expanded interoperability
The Flashnet IoT Platform has been re-certified as a TALQ Gateway under the latest TALQ Smart City Protocol Specification, version 2.7.1. Issued on October 15, 2026, the certification validates a broader range of interoperability capabilities for lighting infrastructure and connected smart city applications.

A broader interoperable framework for managing public-lighting infrastructure
Cabinet Control profile brings lighting cabinets into the same standardised environment as individual light points, while Lighting Asset Management profile enables consistent asset information to be shared across compatible systems. This gives cities a clearer view of their infrastructure, supporting maintenance planning and future upgrades.
The certification also includes the new D4i Luminaire profile, developed through cooperation between the TALQ Consortium, the DALI Alliance and the Zhaga Consortium, which makes relevant identification, operational, energy and diagnostic data from compatible D4i luminaires available to central management platforms through the TALQ interface.
Extending interoperability to connected sensors
The new DALI D4i Sensors TALQ Zhaga profile applies the same standardised approach to sensors connected to compatible Zhaga-D4i luminaires. Its purpose is to make sensor data consistently available to central management platforms, supporting adaptive lighting and other sensor-based applications.
Together with the Environmental Monitoring profile, this allows the Flashnet IoT Platform to integrate additional connected devices and urban data beyond lighting control, while preserving a consistent interface across multi-vendor systems.
A practical foundation for multi-vendor projects
TALQ defines a standardized interface between central management systems (CMS) and outdoor device networks (ODNs), independent of the underlying communication technology. Through the certified Flashnet IoT Platform, supported field devices and compatible management systems can exchange information using this common interface. This supports multi-vendor projects where Flashnet hardware and software can work alongside compatible solutions from other providers, according to each project’s specific requirements.
Nicola Crespi, Chief Product Officer at Flashnet, added:
“Re-certifying FLASHNET IoT Platform to TALQ 2.7.1 is more than an update to the latest standard. It expands tested interoperability across lighting control, asset management, cabinet control, and DALI D4i luminaires and sensors. With the support of the TALQ Consortium, we are strengthening the TALQ ecosystem and advancing the shared goal of open, interoperable smart city solutions. This gives cities and technology partners greater freedom to integrate, collaborate and evolve, reflecting FLASHNET’s long-term commitment to open, scalable and future-ready solutions.”
The certified capabilities of the Flashnet IoT Platform are documented in the official TALQ Capability List. Individual integrations remain subject to system compatibility and project-specific requirements.
About FLASHNET
FLASHNET is a fast-paced tech company that integrates the latest IT, energy and telecommunications technologies into hardware and software solutions, creating and implementing intelligent systems for smarter cities and better infrastructure. Founded in 2005, FLASHNET is a global leader in smart street lighting and smart city solutions, with worldwide operations and a focus on interoperability. (www.flashnet.ro)
About TALQ Consortium
Founded in 2012, the TALQ Consortium is establishing a globally accepted standard for management software interfaces to control and monitor heterogeneous smart city applications. The TALQ Smart City Protocol is a specification for information exchange, suitable for implementation in various products and systems. This way interoperability between Central Management Software (CMS) and Outdoor Device Networks (ODN) from different vendors will be enabled, such that a single CMS can control different ODNs in different parts of a city or region.
